Dinosaur Discoveries

Varied Lessons Student Life SIS Basel-Allschwil Kindergarten/Preschool

We have been uncovering dinosaur mysteries, creating models and habitats, and learning about Earth's history.

Exploring the world of dinosaurs has been an exciting adventure! It included a trip to the Natural History Museum where the students marvelled at the skeletons of extinct animals and learned about the different species that once roamed the Earth. The model of the woolly mammoth with a special picture of the contents of its stomach was especially well received. The young paleontologists delved into the history of the Earth and the evolution of life. The excitement continued as the children participated in a mock archaeological dig, uncovering "fossils" buried in the sand and 'rock'. They then used clay and recycled materials to create detailed models of their favourite dinosaurs, bringing these ancient giants to life. To further immerse themselves, the students built a dinosaur habitat, complete with a chia seed swamp and paper plants. Others chose a favourite dinosaur to research, gathering information from books and online resources. They drafted reports, revised their work, and finally published their findings, proudly sharing their knowledge. The whole experience would not have been the same without dinosaur yoga, of course! How long can you hold a stegosaurus pose for?
